Auckland* - Hamilton - Te Kuiti and return. 

*Train stops at Waiuku/Glenbrook and Pukekohe. Auckland Metro network connections from across Auckland to Pukekohe for pickup with AT Auckland Metro train connections from all stations on the AT network to Papakura and then on to Pukekohe - remembering that travel on these connections is free for "Super Gold Card" holders! Escorted by an RES host from Britomart.

Te Kuiti Muster

Enjoy a great day out at the unique Te Kuiti Muster. What better way to travel to the show than by relaxing train. Held in conjunction with the New Zealand Shearing Championships, Te Kuiti, the shearing capital of the World, transforms itself to celebrate its sheep farming heritage. Attracting all New Zealand's top shearing contestants, enjoy the celebration of the rural lifestyle. Spectate at the "Running of the Sheep" down the main street (always the highlight!), see sheep dog displays, visit arts and crafts displays, market street stalls, side shows, street vendors, buskers and much more. Enjoy live music and bands, spectate at the Shearing Championship and marvel at the skills of our shearers. View the Colin Meads statue, rub shoulders with our rural friends, enjoy the passion and friendliness of our provincial cousins and enjoy a great day out in the country. Plenty to keep young and old alike, interested.
$125 per adult, $75 per child.

"Raglan Explorer"

Alight at Hamilton Station and board one of our chartered buses to head west to the black sand of Raglan!
Enjoy the scenic drive to the laidback lifestyle township that is Raglan. During our time out west we will visit the spectacular and magnificent 55 metre high "Bridal Veil Falls" on the Pakoka River in the tawa dominated Waireinga Scenic Reserve. You will walk for 10 minutes on a good flat track though heavy bush to reach the top of the falls where there are excellent viewing platforms! We then continue on to Raglan where we will drive around the town to explore before stopping at a suitable location to purchase lunch (at own expense). Time permitting we will continue our exploration tour before returning to Hamilton Station to catch the train.
$115 per adult, $65 per child.

Waitomo Caves

Travel in style by train to visit the unique and stunning Waitomo Glowworm Caves. On arrival in Te Kuiti you will transfer by bus to the Waitomo Caves - an approximate 20 minute journey. Your prepaid entry and viewing timeslot will ensure minimal waiting time before you are escorted underground into the magical world of the glow worm grotto. Initially walk through part of the cave complex before boarding a boat to glide silently through the grotto. Be informed by the Cave Tour Guides of the wonderful sights you see and the stories of the caves. The cave tour will last approximately one hour. On exiting you will be transferred back to Te Kuiti to enjoy the Muster activities until it is time to board the train for the return journey.
$180 per adult, $105 per child.


Conditions of Booking and Travel on Rail Excursions

By completing the booking form and requesting that a booking be made on the basis of the excursion brochure dated 03 December, 2018, intending passengers acknowledge and agree that when their booking is accepted by the The Railway Enthusiasts Society Inc ("The Society"), they, and all passengers included in their group covered by the booking are bound by the Society's conditions of booking and travel as follows:

  1. The Society, The Glenbrook Vintage Railway Charitable Trust Board, and all owners, employees and operators of any aircraft, locomotives, carriages and ancillary vehicle, road coaches, ships or other equipment used on or in connection with this rail excursion or tour accept no responsibility for injury, medical expenses, loss or damage howsoever caused and whether insured or not, to passengers or their belongings travelling on this excursion or tour, including consequential claims and expenses.
  2. The Society reserves the right to substitute the form and types of motive power that its Officers in their absolute discretion determine to be necessary, subject to availability, mechanical condition or any other factors and to vary schedules, including departure and arrival times and places, as may be required to meet operating requirements.
  3. The Society accepts no responsibility for any consequences of late running or varied schedules, including missed connections, however efforts will be made to keep passengers informed of any such changes or variations, the reasons for them, and steps being taken to meet passengers’ reasonable expectations.
  4. Each booking accepted by The Society is subject to a $20 non refundable booking fee if a refund is later requested and made. However no booking fee will apply where refunds arise as a consequence of the excursion or tour being fully booked, cancelled prior to commencing, or postponed to a later date and the refund application is received within four days of the original excursion date.
  5. No refunds will be given in the event of breakdown en route or unavailability of the advertised means of travel.
  6. No refunds will be made if after departure, for whatever reason, passengers do not utilise the included excursion or tour arrangements. Travel insurance may provide some degree of relief in limited cases.
  7. No refunds of fares paid or any other form of recompense will be given as a result of any person missing any aircraft, train, bus or ferry etc on this excursion or tour for whatever reason.
  8. No refunds will be given for cancellations unless the request is notified in writing to the Society at least fourteen clear days before commencement of the excursion. Each such cancellation will be subject to the $20 booking fee deduction per booking.
  9. Passengers will be responsible for their own luggage and possessions at all times, including moving them to and from buses, trains, hotels, ferries, airports.
  10. Passengers with disabilities requiring nursing or special attention must arrange for a companion attendant to travel with them. Society Officers and other passengers must not and cannot be expected to undertake such responsibilities on a continuing basis.

Final details and tickets will be emailed / mailed out to all passengers one week prior to departure.
