This excursion will depart from Hamilton Station and after going underground through Hamilton, the train will emerge to cross the Waikato River on a high- level bridge. From here the train continues through the suburbs of Hamilton before setting out across the Waikato farmlands to reach Morrinsville. Here the rail turns east and heads towards the Kaimai Ranges that can be seen in the distance. After a planned photo-stop (if time permits) the train will continue to what is known as the Waharoa triangle where it will reverse around the triangle to change its direction so that it can return to Hamilton. There will not be a set down stopping point on this trip, passengers will remain on board the train apart from any photo-stop opportunities (if time permits). It is planned to have morning tea/coffee available for purchase along with light refreshments. Full details will be sent with the ticket mailout at least 14 days before departure.
