Grab a friend, bring a party, book a seat and get rid of the Winter Blues in the most relaxing way possible by enjoying a few hours of luxury rail travel in the comfort of a Silverfern Railcar. With limited chances left to enjoy the ambience of this vehicle, the Railway Enthusiasts Society Inc has organized two short half day excursions from Hamilton to Kinleith and return on the normally freight only line to the Kinleith Timber mill on Sunday 12th August 2018. Silver Fern Railcar RM 30 will return to the South Island in September to resume Cruise Ship charter trips to Arthurs Pass and beyond and we are using it while the opportunity presents itself to indulge in some easy going half day trips that all can enjoy.
Organized to allow passengers to enjoy a short trip in luxury whilst not breaking the bank, these two half day excursions will most likely be the last we can offer passengers with this railcar and at this fare ($90 per person). We invite you not to miss this opportunity.
Sit back, relax and socialize with fellow passengers and enjoy the panoramic views from the wide windows in air conditioned comfort as we depart Hamilton and take in the local sights, before passing through Morrinsville and Matamata. Thereafter Tirau, Lichfield, Putaruru and Tokoroa are all passed as we travel south to Kinleith. We will retrace some of the old Taupo Totara Company line south of Putaruru and see the big expansion of the Fonterra plant at Lichfield. At present we cannot guarantee entry into the Kinleith yard and the railcar will stop just short at the yard entry. Here passengers will remain on the railcar, however during our stop here the driver will change ends, seats will be turned and we will set off on the return journey.
During both trips either morning or afternoon tea will be served along with light refreshments. These two trips have been arranged to allow passengers to enjoy a short day out in style, travel some rail line not normally available to passenger services and update themselves on the changes in the local countryside.
Get a group together and book now, bring your own lunch for an on board picnic, we look forward to welcoming you on board. Please note the railcar has on-board toilets, wide panoramic windows and is air-conditioned.Download the booking form here
